Student Council

The ISAW Student Council (ISAW-SC) advocates for student interests to the quality of graduate life. It provides a platform for all students at ISAW to participate in the institution by facilitating communication with faculty, contributing to the intellectual life of the Institute, and encouraging engagement in the community.

All students at ISAW are automatically part of the Student Council. The ISAW-SC meets frequently in order to discuss pressing student-related issues and create tangible solutions. Students are represented by three elected members of the graduate cohort (president, student representative, and secretary), whose main responsibilities are to liaise and advocate for student interests, not only within the Institute, but also at NYU.

The ISAW-SC also promotes events of both intellectual and social character. Currently, the Council partners with the Society for Ancient Studies (NYU) for an Ancient World Graduate Workshop Series (AWGWS) and holds several social events each semester in order to foster a greater sense of community among its members.
