Glen Bowersock

Glen Bowersock is interested in Greek, Roman, and Near Eastern history and culture as well as the classical tradition in modern literature. His research covers the Greek East in the Roman Empire and in Late Antiquity as well as pre-Islamic Arabia. He is the author of many books, including most recentlyMosaics as History: The Near East from Late Antiquity to Islam (2006) andFrom Gibbon to Auden: Essays on the Classical Tradition (2009).  He is Professor Emeritus of Historical Studies at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, to which he came after eighteen years as Professor of Classics and History at Harvard University.
