New York University

ISAW is part of New York University, the largest independent university in the United States. NYU’s main campus is located around Washington Square, a 25-minute subway ride from ISAW, and the Institute of Fine Arts, generally considered one of the leading graduate institutions in Art History in the country, is an 8-minute walk away at 1 East 78th Street. NYU has undergraduate and professional programs in a wide range of fields, including a full spectrum of fields in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Many faculty members in these departments serve as affiliated faculty at ISAW. NYU is, despite its array of programs around the globe, very much a university in and of New York City, and we encourage ISAW’s students and visitors to get to know both the university and the city.
