VRS Alum Rita Lucarelli Appointed Assistant Professor of Egyptology at University of California, Berkeley

ISAW is pleased to announce that Rita Lucarelli, a visiting research scholar at ISAW in 2011-12, has been appointed Assistant Professor of Egyptology in the Near Eastern Studies Department at the University of California, Berkeley. Lucarelli earned her PhD from Leiden University in 2005 and focuses her studies on the magical and funerary compositions of Pharaonic and Greco-Roman Egypt, such as the 'Book of the Dead'. She will be teaching her first class at Berkeley on Religion of Ancient Egypt this fall.
