Though From Ancient to Modern: Archaeology and Aesthetics will be open until June 7th, ISAW’s exhibition team is busy working on their fall show. The beginnings of any exhibition require lots of reading, research, and of course--travel! This photograph shows Curatorial Postdoctoral Associate Jennifer Babcock working away in the Freer and Sackler archives in Washington, D.C. on the exhibition that will open in October 2015. The fall exhibit will display 19th century photography of ancient Iranian monuments as well as the contemporary world surrounding the last shahs of the Qajar dynasty (1794–1925). She is entering data into a preliminary checklist of objects that may be on display; but, of course, every photograph must be studied individually and in relation to the others in order to create an interesting and stunning exhibition narrative. Last week, Jennifer Y. Chi, ISAW’s Exhibition Director, was on a research trip to find more images and objects that will complement the team’s vision for this exhibit!
