Gilles Bransbourg, ISAW Research Associate and Adjunct Curator of Roman Coins at the American Numismatic Society, has been invited to give a talk at this year's 22nd International Congress of Historical Sciences (ICHS). His talk is entitled "Reddite quae sunt Caesaris, Caesari. Late Antiquity and the Dream of Fair Taxation" and will be presented as part of the Late Antiquity in Contemporary Debate on August 26. The Debate is one of the "Specialized Theme" series of the ICHS and is organized by Rita Lizzi Testa with the support of the Italian National Committee.

The International Congress of Historical Sciences began in 1900. As the most influential academic activity of historical sciences, it enjoys a reputation as the “Olympics of Historical Sciences." From August 23rd to 29th, 2015, the 22nd ICHS will be held in Jinan, China- the first time that the Congress will be held in Asia. The 2015 Congress, hosted by the International Committee of Historical Sciences, is organized by the Association of Chinese Historians and Shandong University.

The Congress includes 4 major themes, including “China from Global Perspectives," “Historicizing Emotions," “Revolutions in World History: Comparisons and Connections,” and “Digital Turn in History." There will also be a series of academic activities, such as specialized theme discussions, joint sessions, round tables, evening discussions, and a poster session for post-graduate and PhD students. Over 2,000 historians from all over the world will participate in these activities.

The full schedule of events and talks is available through the 22nd ICHS's Main Agenda page or on the downloadable program.
