A list of books added to the ISAW Library in March 2017 is now available online on the ISAW Library website. The titles are sorted in the website version according to thematic topics (e.g., "East Asia" and "Ancient Near East & Asia Minor"); and within each topic, the titles are organized according to Library of Congress classification. The authors and titles of works in non-Roman languages are given in their original script. This list is also available in Zotero library and as a browsable map created using Google Fusion Tables. [Update, February 2021: Our new map interface is now live. The March 2017 map is available here.]

March was a particularly active month, with 284 volumes added to the library's holdings. Many of these titles originated in some of our recently-acquired and donated collections, including Egyptological titles from the library of Heinz-Josef Thissen, Near Eastern materials from the collection of David I. Owen, and books on the northern Caucasus and the Eurasian Steppe from the library of Aleksandr Leskov. Enhancing these historical materials were acquisitions of new archaeological publications and text editions, including:

  • Woods of Yenikapi shipwrecks = Yenikapı batıklarının ahşapları (Yenikapı Shipwrecks II) by Ünal Akkemik (Large Collection DR738.5.F38 A43 2015
  • Acemhöyük-Burušhaddum I: Silindir mühürler ve mühür baskılı bullalar = Cylinder seals and bullae with cylinder seal impressions by Nimet Özgüç (Large Collection DS51.Y448 O94 2015
  • Assyrian archival texts in the Schøyen Collection and other documents from North Mesopotamia and Syria (CUSAS 34) by A. R. George, Thomas Hertel, Jaume Llop-Raduà, Karen Radner, and Wilfred H. van Soldt (Large Collection PJ3711 .C67 v.34 2017
  • The Zoroastrian law to expel the demons: Wīdewdād 10-15 : critical edition, translation and glossary of the Avestan and Pahlavi texts by Miguel Ángel Andrés-Toledo (Small Collection BL1515.5.V4 A53 2016)

Also acquired in March were the first three volumes of Matériaux pour l'étude de la Toponymie et de la Topographie (MTT) (Large Collection PJ3545 .M38 v.1:pt.1-3), a new series published by the Société pour l’étude du Proche-Orient ancien. These and future volumes of MTT are sure to be an invaluable resource for the historical geography of Upper Mesopotamia.

As always, the titles added to the ISAW Library for the entire academic year may be found both on our website and in our Zotero library. You can also follow our progress on Facebook and Twitter.
