Workshop: Sedentary Answers to Nomadic Policies Between China and Iran, 1st Millennium AD

Co-presented by ISAW and the Centre de recherche sur les civilisations de l'Asie orientale (CRCAO), this workshop examines strategies employed by sedentary societies (of varying scale) in frontier zones vis-à-vis nomadic policies in Central Asia, mostly during first millennium AD. The topic shall be approached from both a Chinese and a Iranian-Transoxanian angle. The major objective of the workshop is to present and discuss ongoing research on this problem. Seating is limited.
