Saving Mes Aynak - Film Screening at the Rubin Musem of Art

The Rubin Museum of Art and the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World are co-presenting special advance screenings of Saving Mes Aynak, a new documentary that follows archaeologists from around the world as they fight to save a 2,600-year-old Buddhist city in Afghanistan from imminent destruction by a Chinese copper mining company.

Under the threat from the local Taliban as well as pressure from the mining consortium, the archaeologists confront great risk in seeking to document one of the great centers of the Silk Road before it is razed and erased from memory.
