Ancient World Image Bank

The Ancient World Image Bank is a collaborative effort to distribute and encourage the sharing of free digital imagery for the study of the ancient world. Beginning with the slide and digital photography collections of ISAW faculty, staff and affiliates, AWIB will expand to publish imagery donated by others as well.

AWIB may be viewed, searched and downloaded via our photostream on Flickr.com. All AWIB Images are licensed under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution license. That means that all you have to do to reuse one of our images is cite it in the manner indicated below.

The first test images were rolled out to Flickr in December 2009. We will also be archiving copies of the images (and associated descriptions) in the NYU Faculty Digital Archive. We are working toward integrating AWIB with the Pleiades digital gazetteer of the ancient world.

If you would like to comment on AWIB, or would like to donate your own imagery, please contact Iris Fernandez, the AWIB Managing Editor, at isaw.awib@nyu.edu.

AWIB should be cited like a series or collection, as follows:
