ISAW's Leon Levy Director Roger Bagnall has been elected a Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI), joining his colleague Daniel Potts in that status. The DAI has a worldwide network of departments and branches, including its historic departments in Athens, Rome, Cairo, Istanbul, and Madrid, as well as departments for Eurasia and the Orient and commissions for Ancient History and Epigraphy, the Archaeology of Non-European Cultures, and the Romano-Germanic Commission. It has sponsored numerous important excavations and publishes some of the leading archaeological journals. ISAW Senior Fellow Felix Pirson is the director of the Istanbul department, and Senior Fellow and Advisory Committee member Paul Zanker was formerly director of DAI Rome.
