Dissertation Workshop
All students in the dissertation phase of the doctoral program are expected to participate in a Dissertation Workshop until graduation. The goal of the workshop is to give students an opportunity to present dissertation-related research to an audience of faculty and students and to receive useful feedback. Discussing dissertation research in this setting also helps students hone their presentation skills as they prepare to enter the academic job market.
Attendance is expected at all sessions, which generally take place on alternating Tuesdays during the academic year. Students typically give one presentation per year, but more advanced students (in Year 6 and 7) may be asked to give two presentations (one in the fall and another in the spring).
The Workshop is organized under the direction of the Director for Graduate Studies and the Associate Director for Academic Affairs.
