Course Scheduling
ISAW Faculty are required to offer a graduate seminar and/or directed study and/or undergraduate course each semester unless excused by the Director or on sabbatical leave. Visiting Faculty are required to teach two undergraduate courses and one graduate seminar over the course of their two-year appointment.
Graduate Courses:
Each year on the Friday before Thanksgiving, faculty are required to submit course titles and scheduling preferences for ISAW graduate-level courses for the following academic year to the Associate Director for Academic Affairs. On January 15th, course descriptions and lists of prerequisites are due.
New Course Proposals:
For graduate-level courses that will not run as a sub-topic of an existing ISAW course designation, faculty should complete a GSAS new course proposal form and submit it to the Associate Director for Academic Affairs at least one week in advance of the relevant submission deadline for the NYU Graduate Curriculum Committee.
Undergraduate Teaching:
Deadlines for undergraduate course titles, descriptions, syllabi, and scheduling preferences vary. Please coordinate with the Associate Director for Academic Affairs about undergraduate teaching as far in advance as possible (and preferably at least one year in advance).
