The Latin inscription incised around the medallion in the center of the plate reads:

DEO MERCVRIO KANETONNESSI G PROPERT SECVNDVS VSLM

Translation: To the god Mercury Kanetonnessis, Gaius Propertius Secundus fulfilled his vow willingly as merited.
