Jasmine Smith joined ISAW in 2019 as the Assistant Research Scholar for Digital Initiatives. Before coming to ISAW she was a master’s student at the University of Michigan School of Information where she focused on archives, library science, and digital curation. Her Thesis, Motivations and Expectations for Central Database Creation at an Egyptian Archaeological Site, studied a team of archaeologists planning to move from the practice of separate, individualized ways of storing data to a central database system. While working toward her M.S., Jasmine held several student positions in libraries including the Smithsonian Libraries and the University of Michigan Libraries’ Papyrology Collection. Her B.A. was in Anthropology at Michigan State University where she also worked as an archaeologist with the Campus Archaeology Program
