SUMMARY:Ancient World Research and Tools in Synergy
DTSTART:20171113T230000Z
DTEND:20171114T003000Z
DESCRIPTION:Starting from the example of Trismegistos\, Depauw will di
scuss how digital tools are transforming antiquity research. Heuristic
s used to be the most time-consuming task of the scholar\, but are inc
reasingly a matter of a few mouse-clicks. This implies that scholars o
f the ancient world will have more time to do what lies at the core of
the humanities: asking questions and studying ancient society and cul
ture critically. On the other hand\, some of these new questions can o
nly be answered by developing new tools.
