Assistant Research Scholar, Digital and Special Projects

Patrick J. Burns joins the ISAW Library having recently received his Ph.D. in Classics from Fordham University. His current research deals with defining genre in Latin literature through computational approaches to diction as well as developing natural language processing tools for historical languages for the Classical Language Toolkit. Patrick founded the Graduate Students Digital Humanities Group at Fordham and currently serves as a steering committee member of both the Digital Classical Association and the NYC Digital Humanities Group. As Assistant Research Scholar in the ISAW Library, Patrick will help ISAW faculty, researchers and students better understand the landscape of digital approaches to antiquity and work with them to incorporate electronic tools and resources into their research and teaching. In addition, he will assist in developing the Ancient World Digital Library and ISAW’s born-digital publications.
