Kazim Abdullaev

Kazim Abdullaev received his M.A. in Renaissance Studies from Gorky University (Nizhni Novgorod), USSR in 1975 and his Ph.D. with Distinction in Classical Archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Moscow, in 1986 with a dissertation entitled Terra cotta Plastic Art of Bactria-Tokharistan in Antique and Early Medieval Age. His research interests include the archaeology of Central Asia of the Hellenistic and Post-Hellenistic periods, art history of Bactria and Sogdia in the ancient period, numismatics of the Hellenistic and Kushan periods of Bactria and Sogdia, Buddhist art of Central Asia, nomadism of Central Asia, terra cotta sculpture of Bactria in the antique and early medieval periods, and Glyptic art of Bactria and Sogdia. He is currently Director of Research of the Institute of Archaeology, Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Senior Scientific Worker in Samarkand State University, and an Associated Member of the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique.
