The Leon Levy Foundation
The Institute for the Study of the Ancient World was created in 2006 by a gift from the Leon Levy Foundation to New York University. The Leon Levy Foundation, founded in 2004, is a private, not-for-profit foundation created from the Estate of Leon Levy. The Foundation continues Leon Levy’s philanthropic legacy by providing support for programs he started with his wife, Shelby White.
The Foundation makes grants in the areas of the Arts and Humanities, Nature and Gardens (with a particular interest in bird conservation), Brain Science, Human Rights, and Jewish Culture.
